Welcome to
Twitchy Tails Critter Care
I’m Zash (they/them), and I’m excited to get to know your animals!
I’ve been around animals my whole life, quite literally! Growing up, we had everything from cats, hamsters, and dogs to angora rabbits and walking stick insects. Helping take care of our critters was something I started doing at an early age. By my early teens, friends and neighbors were frequently hiring me to take care of their pets, too. When a friend suggested I try pet-sitting professionally in late 2022, I realized I had found my calling!
My critters are a part of my family, and I treat yours with that same care. Just like people, every animal is different, so their needs are, too. “Pet care” isn’t just putting some food out and cleaning a litter box; I’m here to make sure your pets’ social needs are being met, whether that’s playing with toys, giving them all the cuddles, or just keeping them company while they lounge. I believe in taking my cues from the animal, which gives space for even the more timid creatures to get to know and trust me at their own pace.
When I’m not taking care of critters, I enjoy fiber arts; crafting; reading; movies; D&D and other tabletop roleplaying games; and a wide variety of board, card, and video games. I live with my partner, our cat, Lonnie, and our tiny dog, Pip.
Meet My Critters!
Avalon, AKA Lonnie, appeared at my front door in June of 2010. One night, I heard meowing, opened the door, and she walked right in and made herself at home. She’s been queen of the house ever since! Lonnie is all about soft things; blankets, plushies, pillows… if it’s soft and fuzzy, it’s hers. No Squishmallow is safe in our house! She never turns down a chance to cuddle with one of her favorite people, though. She often joins me right as I wake up to demand snuggles and forehead kisses. Although she’s an older kitty now, Lonnie still loves to chase after fuzzy mice and bat her jingly balls around (usually in the middle of the night, of course!).
The baby of our household, Pipkin (named after the main character of the Ray Bradbury story ‘The Halloween Tree’) is a chihuahua-dachshund mix that my partner and I adopted in late 2020. Pip manages to fit an impressive amount of personality into such a small container! He loves attention and has been known to throw tiny tantrums when he doesn’t think he’s getting enough. Though he’s not always sure how to play with other dogs, besides prancing around in circles, he loves to cuddle up to our cats and enjoys getting groomed by them. He assumes all cats are his friends, even if they don’t agree with him. Pip’s two favorite things, outside of cuddles, are playing fetch and laying in the sun for looooong stretches of time.
